Dialogue Boulder is an active and growing group of committed learners, dedicated to new horizons in communication, dropping the baggage of willful thinking, judgmental direction and the restriction of familiar destinations.
How many dysfunctional meetings with competing agendas and sub-optimal results could be transformed with a new consciousness and practice of Dialogue?
The state of human discourse is on a rapid decline into intolerance and hostility. Only new thinking together and the willingness to shift old practices will save the planet. There is much to study and document.
· Dialogue is analogous to the principle of Superconductivity: “Electrons that are cooled to a very low temperature act more like a coherent whole than as separate parts. They flow around obstacles without colliding with one another, creating no resistance and very high energy. At higher temperatures, they begin to act like separate parts, scattering into a random movement and losing momentum.” - David Bohm, Quantum Physicist
· Dialogue seeks to produce a “cooler” shared environment or container, in which listening, thinking and ideas flow in coordination rather than colliding randomly. The critical paradox: We can intend to have Dialogue, but we cannot force it to happen. We can only hold the space and presence that allows it to happen.
The founder of Dialogue Boulder. An organization development consultant and communications strategist, John found that his dismay with the state of public discourse led him to the practice of Dialogue and the work
of David Bohm.
